Accounting Office Sept. 21^st 1796 The enclosed account of Joseph Cranch was received from him p his letter of the 12^th inst. in which he says "The thirty one Cents for cleaning French Arms with Sand was the price charged 3 or 4 years ago since which a Major Hobgdon has [strikethrough: thought] fit to augment my charges on account of the very high price of labor but by mistake the cleaning arms with sand was left out of the list" — This charge as well as the others you will please to examine & note if they are agreeable to Contract with him & return the account to me properly certified.
