the prices you charge but could not be considered the value of a ration at that place, — the party he furnished was so small that it was not an object for any one to undertake the furnishing of rations without an advanced price — these were the circumstances under which the price was allowed in Boston and in my opinion should not govern the Price to be allowed an officer on furlough. — the price of rations in this City where provisions are as high as any place on the Continent are but 15 Cents — this I shall be willing to allow you while in Boston and shall adjust your account accordingly, and in a few days transmit you a Copy of the Statement made in this Office, in the meantime have thought proper to make you an advance of one hundred & fifty Dollars which sum you will receive from Jonathan Jackson Esq.^r Sup.^r Massachusetts on giving him duplicate Receipts for the due application thereof.
