Detroit 10^th Aug^t 1796 Sir A few days ago, made up an estimate of the probable [undecipherable] expend[itures] for the months of July, Aug[ust], Sep[tember] and also for the Indian & Hospital departments which I have the honor to transmit to you. I have now made out the estimate of the [undecipherable] yet all I expend it not for the next quarters being the months of October, Nov^r & Dec^r and which I have reason since will fall greatly Short of the amount for the preceding quarter. This is to be accounted for from little or no — provisions being likely to be made, and from a considerable reduction which will take place in the people employ'd in the department. Should I be ordered to make any purchases, or any further payments, not [contained] in this Estimate, I shall forward without Delay an additional estimate.
