Fort Johnson — South Carolina 8^th September 1796 Sir I have the honor to enclose you my Account Current up to the 1^st inst. with the necessary vouchers.— The passage money for myself and Soldiers, from Philadelphia to this place— I cannot now recollect, whether I received it from your office, besides the 250.— or whether I was to pay it out of this sum— however I have charged it and transmit the receipts. I shall esteem it as a very particular favor if you would be so obliging as to send me a copy of my Account up to the 1^st of this month, as it stands on your books— I have opened a set of books, from that day, to prevent embarrassment to my representatives should any thing happen to me.— Voucher N^o 3 has already been transmitted to your office, with the affidavit of the legatee of the deceased— and I now send the duplicate of that receipt among the vouchers of my account.— There may be some charges against me which I do not recollect— and you will infinitely oblige me by notifying the mistake.— As I still am recruiting here, I should be happy to receive an advance for that service.— I am Sir, your humble & Obed.
