Pittsburg 2^nd September 1796 Sir This letter is accompanied by an Estimate of objects of Expenditure in the Q.Mr. Dept at Pittsburg and the several posts and places thereon depending during the 3^rd Quarter of the year 1796 the amount 14 733 ⁶⁴/₁₀₀ dollars the Estimate of the two first Quarters of this year has exceeded the Expenditures, a balance therefore remains in my hands, but this balance cannot yet be ascertained until the amount of purchase of Forage in upper Canada and its transportation to Detroit, and some other amounts come forward and which I expect in a few days. A General Return of Q.Mr. and Ordnance Stores together with Hospital Stores, Indian Goods & Cloathing is herewith enclosed — This Return commences 1^st of April 1796 [ends with] the last day of March 1796. Similar Returns are transmitted to the Comptroller of the Treasury & to Mr. Sam Robinson [undecipherable] with Vouchers of Issues of Stores &c during that period. My Letter of the 8^th July mentions [the] Cloathing viz: Round Jackets, Trowsers &c received of the Militia Army in 1794 it was intimated formerly that as this cloathing is not suitable for the Army it might be proper to dispose of it at auction. If that method of desposing of it is to be adopted will not the approaching season, to wit, same time in October be a proper time.
