[undecipherable] 316.] --- New London August 29^th 1796 A circumstance has lately happened in this Neighbourhood which has given me some Uneasiness a Letter was found the other day in the Woods near to the Post Road leading from Lynchburg to this place which had evidently been in the Post-ridersMail, nothing has transpired since to account for it, I have had been something irregular in the business, In order to know whether the Publick has sustained any injury in this Affair I have to request you will please inform me whether you have forwarded to me any Money since the Eleven hundred and twenty one dollars 44 Cents which I received in your favour of the 25^th of June and at what time.
