(who are generally Captains or Subalterns) do the Duty of Pay Master to their detachments without asking any Compensation. If Ens^r M^cCall has been at any extra expence in consequence of such Duty I should think that he should be reimbursed. But as to Compensation I can at present only say I know of no precedent for allowing any. If his services should appear a representation thereof that they are too extensive and laborious for the Captain or Subaltern at Fort Fidelins to perfor[m] I dare say he will be made an allowance.
