Not Enough Woolen Overalls
Document 1796Jones quotes Captain Rickard: "that the clothing arrived in good order except the woollen overalls which fell short eleven pair in their number only eighty four arrived and ninety four mentioned in the invoice." The Secretary of War wants to know how this mistake was made and directs Hodgdon to supply the articles that were omitted. Rickard has subsequently written that he has sixty men but his return only shows 27. Hodgdon is asked to clarify the discrepancy.
