[769] Nicholas Fish Esq.^r Accountants Office Supervisor August 12^th 1796 New York Sir The Treasurer of the United States will remit you the sum of Two thousand three hundred seventy four Dollars and Eighty three Cents being for the pay and forage of the Corps of Artillerists & Engineers stationed at West Point for the month of June 1796, which you will please to pay to L^t Nehemiah Freeman, Temp.^y Pay Master and take his Receipts to be accountable for the due application of the same I am &c Wm Simmons Ac.^t Isaac Craig Esq.^r Accountants Office Pittsburg Aug: 13. 1796 Sir I received your letter of the 5^th Inst. together with the accompanying Pay & Muster Rolls which will be placed under Examination & the amount found due will be passed to your Credit on the Books of this Office. The Remarks on the last transmission of Vouchers agreably to the letter to you of the 23^d Ult. were intended to prevent your making any subsequent payments contrary to the established Rule in this Office, and which you are requested to attend to accordingly. The money is placed to your Credit amounting to Three hundred & sixty Dollars on the Books of this Office, you need therefore be under no apprehension for want of a Receipt.
