Sir

George Balfour for the Months of March and April 96; I had received a Statement of Moneys which were sent forward to pay my Detachment for [undecipherable] [undecipherable], in this Statement Doct. Balfour was included, and of course I paid him the same, Although he Appeared surprised at the Moneys being brought forward for his Pay. I likewise drew Pay for Doct. Balfour for March and April, since which he has declined receiving the same, and as I do not wish to hold the Publicks Money in my hands, I have thought it most prudent to lodge the same with Maj. Craig, who stands responsible at your Office and I request you will pass the same to my credit
I have omitted sending you the Recruiting Rolls for my Detachment, for the Months of March & April, and for the Month of May 96. I have several Men of my Detacht who are on Command, and it is not in my power to procure their recits, without Inconvenience, however I am in hopes to be able to forward the Rolls to your office by the next Post
with much respect
I am
