The Treasurer of the United States will remit you the Sum of four hundred and eighty three Dolls and Ninety eight Cents which you will please pay to Capt Michael Hattisey at Fort Johnsons being for the Pay of himself Ensign Robert Torrans and the Men under the Command of Capt Michael Hattisey for May and June 1796 for which Sum he will give Duplicate receipts to be accountable for the due application thereof.

Your pay Roll for the Months of May and June 1796 has been examined and the Sum found due is four hundred eighty three Dollars and Ninety eight Cents which differs eight Dollars from the Sum charged by you the reason of which is that you have charged the Pay of John Brown twice. — The above mentioned Sum you will receive from Daniel Stevens Esqr Supervisory Charlestown to whom you will give your Duplicate Receipts to be accountable for the due application thereof agreeably to the enclosed Receipt Roll.
