Sir,
In the absence of the accountant I have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 12th Ins.t and the pay role of the Corps of A. & E. for the month of June which will be reported on, and the money forwarded as soon as a person is appointed to due the Duties of a Pay Master until the return of Mr Freemon, as Mr Fleming has declined.
The Law expressly points out that Q.r Masters and Pay Masters are to be taken from the Subalterns of the Regiments; I therefore cannot make up the Cadets for any extra pay for that purpose.
Herewith you have blank Muster and Pay Rolls and Blank Inspection Returns agreeably to your request — I will send a further supply by next post or if an opportunity offers by a private hand.
