Sir, July 16th 1796
In the absence of the Accountant I have to refer you to his last of the 11th ult. — since which no letter has been received from you. I now enclose you an extract in continuation taken from the Warrant Books from the 10th of June to the present day. — Captain Guion has received three hundred Dollars on account of his Pay & Subce — The Balance due him being suspended until he settles his public accounts which he promises to do by forwarding the vouchers immediately on his arrival at Head Quarters, where he says, his vouchers are. — Captain Thomas Lewis has also received an advance of two hundred and forty dollars until he settles his accounts: — as also Captain Wm Preston three hundred Dollars — They have likewise promised to settle their account either by forwarding their vouchers or bringing them here from the Army. You will please therefore to regulate your payments accordingly.
I am &c.
