Sir,
At one oclock yesterday, Charles Anderson arrived & delivered a Packet addressed to Major Gen. Wayne under cover to me and accompanied by your letter of the 27th Ultimo which informed me of the important contents of the Packet &which in pursuance of your Orders I sent forward same day at 5 oClock in charge of a confidential Man on board a light boat addressed to the commanding Officer at Fort Washington whom I have advised of the importance of the dispatches & requested him to have it transmitted to Head Quarters without a moments delay at that post.
