which relates to his expences, the particulars thereof, must be stated by him and the accounts & receipts produced together with his Oath to the propriety of the Charges and your Certificate that the Man who was apprehended, was a Deserter The payment to James Trowbridge cannot be all admitted the premium for apprehending the Deserter will be allowed on your certifying that the Man was a Deserter and that Trowbridge apprehended him. It has been an uniform rule in the Office that when a Soldier is sent in pursuit of Deserters and his expences paid by the public he is not allowed the premium for apprehending.
