[129.] which relates to the expences, the particulars thereof, must be stated by him and the accounts & receipts produced together with his oath to the propriety of the Charges and your Certificate that the Man who was apprehended was a Deserter. The payment to James Trowbridge cannot be all admitted the premium for apprehending the Deserter will be allowed — on your certifying that the Man was a Deserter and that — Trowbridge apprehended him. It has been an uniform rule in the Office that when a Soldier is sent in pursuit of Deserters and his expences paid by the publick he is not — allowed the premium for apprehending. In this case however as the expences and premium do not differ materially you will be allowed the latter but the expences will be rejected when the Vouchers before mentioned are forwarded — Your account will be settled.
