Evacuation Orders
Document 1796McHenry informs Wayne that the governor of Canada has instructed the British army's evacuation of Fort Miami, Fort Detroit and Fort Michilimackinac. McHenry requests that Wayne make an account of the action.

Captn Lewis arrived this evening from Quebec with Lord Dorchesters orders (Which I here inclose) to the officers commanding at the posts of Fort Miami, Detroit and Michilimackinac for their evacuation.
You will be pleased to transmit to the Secretary of war a duplicate statement of the nature and condition of the works and buildings to be delivered us signed by the officers who may receive them, with such [word crossed out] additional remarks as he may make respecting them.
