Isaac Craig Esq^r Department of Wars Pittsburg, Accountants Office Sir June 25. 1796 I received your letter of the 17 Inst. together with the Accompanying vouchers & Schedule of your Payments which will be placed under examination and the amount found due will be placed to your Credit on the Books of this office.— By this days Mail, you will receive from Sam^l Davis Clk in the War Office under cover in post Notes the sum of three thousands three hundreds and Ninety Dollars & 90/100 being the balance (after deducting 630 Dollars which you supposedly would remain in your hands after paying the troops up to the 1^st of March) of the Estimate I informed you of in my last letter which was rendered to the Secretary of Wars for the pay Subsistence and forage of the Troops at the upper posts for the months of March April, & May 1796— for this sum you will sign Duplicate Receipts and transmit them by different conveyances to him under cover to the Secretary of Wars, for which sum you will be held accountable on the Books of this Office.— As the Act of Congress of the 7 June 1794 makes it necessary that the Army sho^d not be longer in Arrears than two Months you will take immediate steps to have the Troops paid without delay, and transmit the pay Rolls and Vouchers to this Office as usual.
