Know all Men by these Presents, That I Samuel Chapman late Soldier in the Continental Line in the service of the United States of America, for a valuable and full consideration to me in hand paid, as before the execution hereof, by John Brady the receipt whereof, is hereby acknowledged, have, and by these presents do sell, release, transfer and assign unto him, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns for-ever, all my right, title, interest, property, claim and demand, which him, his heirs, executors, or administrators, may at any time hereafter have, to all and singular the lands, pay, arrearages of pay, clothing, rations, rewards, gratuities, prize-monies and other demands, due and owing to the United States, or from any particular State. And do hereby for me my heirs, executors, and administrators covenant and agree, to and with the said John Brady his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, that they being and administrators, that he may at any time or times, execute such deeds and charges of him, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, make, seal, execute and deliver, or cause, or procure to be made, sealed, executed and delivered, all and every such matters and things, and give such authority, consent, agreement, assurance and affidances in the law, for the perfect granting, con-veying, releasing, transferring and aliigning, all the right, title, interest, property, claim and demand, which I now have, or which heretofore I, my heirs, or administrators, ever had to or for the same, & to, in, and all and singular the lands and other the premises hereby granted and alligned unto him, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, as he may, by his, or their counsel, learned in the law, shall be reasonably advised, devised, or required. And I do hereby make, constitute and appoint the said Brady my true and lawful attorney irrevocably, to ask, demand, recover and receive, of and from the United States, or from any particular State, or from any person or persons, all and singular the, unto them, or either of their authorities, all and singular the lands, pay, arrearages of pay, clothing, rations, rewards, gratuities, prize-monies, and all other sum and sums of monies whatsoever, that is or are now due and owing to me, and from and by any manner of ways or means whatsoever to ask, upon receipt thereof, to execute and deliver sufficient and requisite receipts, releifes, and acquittances for the same, and by good and sufficient conveyances and assurances in the law, to grant, bargain, sell, alienate and confirm the said lands to the purchaser or purchasers thereof, his, her, or their heirs and assigns forever. And also to fill, sign and transfer all notes, Warrants, and registered or other Stock, now, or hereafter, Standing in [undecipherable] in the books of the treasury of the United States, or of any particular State, for or in consequence of Services as aforesaid, with power of attorney, or attorneys under him, for the purposes aforesaid to make and substitute, and generally to do all acts requisite and effective to the effect as fully and effectually to all intents and purposes, as might or could do, by being personally present, and to have and to hold the same, hereby ratifying, confirming and allowing all, and whatsoever, my attorney, or his substitute or substitutes, shall, or may do, or cause to be done therein, by virtue hereof.
