Pittsburgh 10^th Jan^ry 9[9] Sir I have the honour of yours of the 4^th instant informing me, that I have been appointed In^spt Gen^t to the legion of the united States — I shall accept of the appointment and endeavour to discharge the duties of it to the best of my abilities — I hope you will take an early opportunity of pointing out to me the mode in which the money arrangements of the department is to be conducted — Whether I am to draw immediately on the treasury of the united States or appoint an agent in Ohio to receive the money & accept my bills, as money may be required for the use of the department.
