Sir
Mr Saml Lewis Clerk to D. will remit you at Albany the sum of seven hundred and fifty Dollars — Six hundreds of which are on account of the pay of yourself & the Detachment under your command for one Month & One hundred and fifty is for the Retained Bounty of your Men — and for which sums you will receipt to said Lewis to be accountable to the Accountant of the War Department; and after you have paid your Detachment you will forward your Receipts to this Office as usual — I enclose your Blank Muster, Pay and Receipt Roles, on rect of which you will Muster your Detachment for the Month of May and pay them agreeably to the Pay Role to be formed therefrom; you will please to state in the Muster Role from whence the Men joined you, who enlisted them & that I may be enabled to make them up hereafter for any Backs Pay or bounty which they may have due them — accuracy in this business is highly necessary. You will please to be cautious on this head —
