is no new one at this Office notwithstanding it May Appear the contrary to you — You was charged with the Recruiting Money — Received from Ensign Thompson because he charged it in his Account & sent forward vouchers to account for part of it in your name those vouchers have been admitted to your Credit & your Acct balanced agreeably thereto —— The premium of the Deserters — was allowed to you on a uniform rule which then prevailed in the Office to wit when deserters were long enough in service for their pay to cover the Premium it was allowed to the officers, and the premium Lowman was deducted from the Account because he was Returned unfit for Service. From the foregoing you will not hesitate to pay the balance of your account to the paymaster Gen^l which after deducting from the former balance the amount of George Dougherty's bounty & Premium leaves Seventy Nine Dollars he owes the United States — The Balance of Bounty due to yours & En^s Thompson Recruits will be paid by the pay Masters — Jam^s &
