Pittsburg 2^d June 1795 Sir Your letter of the 28 Ultimo is this Moment come to hand and I have to thank you for your prompt attention to my drafts as well as that drawn by M^r John Park for 800 dol^rs. I find that there is not a probability of obtaining Money on Drafts at this place as the Contractors agents are taking up every small sum they can find - that together with paying Waggoners for Carriage of Merchandize absorbs all the Merchants cash. I have therefore to request you to remit the balance of my last estimates as soon as convenient. Think in the mean time have an opportunity of drawing it shall be at as long Sight as possible and of which you shall have the earliest advice. If you will find enclosed herewith a General Return of Stores W^t 2^d Quarter, Arsenals & Clothing & to up to the first of April 1795 similar Returns had been made to the Secretary of War & to Gen. Wayne - Returns from to Buch & Presqu'isle have not yet come in for the 1^st Quarter as soon as they arrive I shall transmit you copies and I expect by next post to transmit you a general Statement of my accounts as Commissary of Provision as I am now making a final settlement with the old Contractor. I am much indebted to you for your attention to my claim for compensation in the Ordnance department and I have still to beg a continuance of it until the object is obtained and as it is possible that Col^o Pickering's letter to the Secretary of War on that Business may be [undecipherable] I have now enclosed you a Copy of it. I have not had a line from the Secretary of War since my Return to this place - pray what is the reason? By a letter from Philadelphia to Col^o Neville by this days Mail it appears that the Army and Quarter Master Department is to be continued in nearly the same establishment as formerly. - There is not a Q.M. General to be appointed? Be kind enough to call on Col^o Pickering and enquire what is done or to be done in this Business.
