[Copy] Quebec 3^d June 1790 Sir, I have it in command from His Majesty's Attorney General to acknowledge the receipt of your Dispatches of the 10^th of last Month by Captain Davis, at the same time I have the honour to acquaint you that the necessary orders have been transmitted for the Evacuation of the Frontier Posts in the Upper country, in which Officers Guard bills be left for the security of the Posts and Buildings untill the Troops of the United States shall be ready to take possession, Captain Davis having represented that this measure would meet the Presidents wishes and be generally pleasing to your Government. His Excellency has received the necessary orders to the Officers commanding those Guards, that he may behave of them according to his Instructions. As it does not appear that similar ideas of importance are attached to the Small Forts held upon Lake Champlain and at Ogdensburg, nor Dutchis Post, he will endeavour from those places in a few days. I have it in particular charge from Lord Dorchester to tenite his cordial good wishes to me, that the most solid and lasting Friendship may be perpetuated between the two Nations, which cannot lead to bestow on all those Blessings which you Sir have so ably and justly described.
