The Treasurer of the United States will remit you the sum of four hundred sixty five Dollars and two Cents which you will please pay to Capt Michael Hattowier at Fort Johnson for the pay of himself En'r 1st January & the men under the command of Capt Hattowier for March & April 1796 for which sum he will sign Duplicate Note to be accountable for the due application thereof

I received your letters of the 9 ulto —
together with the enclosures contained therein the Muster Roll has been examined and the sum of four hundred and [undecipherable] Dollars — & [undecipherable] will be passed to your Credits the pay Rate of your Men for March and April has like wise been examined and the sum found due is four hundred and sixty five Dollars [undecipherable] which you will receive from Dan'l Stevens Esqr Supr Charleston to whom you will give your Duplicate Receipts to be accountable for the due application thereof agreeably to the enclosed Rect Rolls —
