I have to acknowledge the rect of your letter of the 14th February last — I delayed answering it, till I could see Capt Slough who was daily expected in Town — he has lately arrived, and on mentioning your matter to him he informs me that he paid the sum due to you to Semple & Findlay — Capt Slough has lately resigned his commission —
Lieut Covington was at this Office not long since attending to the Settlement of his Account but have no recollection of his producing the paper you refer to — Mr Rifflin left the Office immediately on my coming into it and went to France where he has been ever since — the $36,000 Drs recd by you for Mr Swand has been passed to your Credit — Enclosed is the [undecipherable] for the arrangement of the Army —
