Pittsburg 27th May, 1795
Sir
You will find enclosed herewith a General Quarterly Return of Quarter Master and ordnance Stores and cloathing up to 1st April 1796 at Pittsburg Fort Franklin Le Bauf and Presque'isle together with an Invoice of Stores forwarded to Fort Washington since that date — A Return of Provisions at the several upper posts up to this day, is now now enclosed, in addition to which the Agent of the New found on has sent forward for Presque'isle (but not yet delivered the Commissary at that post,) 156 Barrels of flour, and also 797 barrels together with several other articles of Provision for Fort Washington — and the Agent is now preparing to send forward nearly 600 barrels more to Fort Washington.
Under an idea that the whole of the transportation of Provision was to be performed by the 2. [undecipherable] Depart more keel'd boats have been provided than are necessary for the transportation of the Qu. Master of Ordnance Stores &c and they being the prece ding season — will it not therefore be proper to sell such of those Boats as can be spared especially, as Kentucky boats are built of Green Timber & thereby a short time [undecipherable] ready.
I find that it will be absolutely necessary to build a store house at Le Boeuf — the buildings a rather [undecipherable] that post being both insufficient and insecure — I presume therefore Sir, that application ought to be made to General Mifflin for permission to occupy a part of the public [undecipherable] at that post.
P.S. An accurate return of Q. Master of Ordnance Stores at Le Boeuf shall be transmitted as soon as it comes from that Post
I am Sir,
Yours as the Law.
