Capt Dan^l Feton Exeter new Hampshire Department of War Accountants Office May 31 — Sir I wrote to you on the 16 Dec^r last year — informing you that the balance due the United States agreeable to a Statement then transmitted to you amounted to 142 ⁹⁄₁₀₀ D^rs — and requested that you would refund the same to the United States this has never been done. I have written to — him before but have never received any answer, presuming that the former letter may have miscarried I have taken the liberty to trouble you to forward the enclosed. He is indebted to the United States 142 ⁹⁄₁₀₀ D^rs — which I have requested him to refund to the Treasurer of the United States but should he find any difficulty in forwarding the Money he may pay the amount to you and your rec^t to him will be considered a discharge.
