Sir
I wrote to you on the 16 Decr last year —
informing you that the balance due the United States agreeable to
a Statement then transmitted to you amounted to 142 ⁹⁄₁₀₀ Drs —
and requested that you would refund the same to the United States
this has never been done. I have therefore once more to request that
you will pay the same into the Treasury of the United States that

the enclosed letter to Danl Feton at Exeter. I have written to —
him before but have never received any answer, presuming that
the former letter may have miscarried I have taken the liberty to
trouble you to forward the enclosed.
He is indebted to the United States 142 ⁹⁄₁₀₀ Drs — which
I have requested him to refund to the Treasurer of the United States
but should he find any difficulty in forwarding the Money he may
pay the amount to you and your rect to him will be considered
a discharge. If you receive the Money please to remit the same
to the Treasurer in a Draft or Bank Notes —
