Pittsburg May 20^th 1795. Sir Previous to my leaving Philadelphia in-formed you of my intentions of drawing on you in favor of Henry Miller, accordingly on the 8^th instant I drew on you in his favor for four thousand dollars payable ten days after date &in consederation took his draft on Gen. John Neville for a like sum — this draft is accepted must be paid as soon as a sufficient sum is collected. On my way to this place in consequence of making a contract for Dan: Ivan [undecipherable] it become necessary to draw on you on the 13^th at Strasburg in fav[or of] Rob: Culbertson for six hundred dollars payable at eight days sight and there then [undecipherable] drawn on you in favor Rob: Culbertson for five hundred dollars at eight days sight. These drafts be pleased to pay & charge as usual. You will find enclosed [undecipherable] Paul's account of [undecipherable] dollars for printing advertisements of lands on the Ohio & this account you will please to present to the President's private Secretary who will pay it at sight. the amount you will then please to place to my credit. As I was under a necessity of leaving your city without obtaining a settlement of my claim for services in the War Department &c was more than any arrangement make to the Head of the W[ar] Department both of these points I hope the Secretary of War to fix, but was unable to succeed after during my stay in Phila. I have therefore to beg of you to attend to these objects both of which are of importance to me. and I am apprehensive that unless you a bit [undecipherable] a both will take the trouble of mentioning [undecipherable] at the War office but the Presidents that I may be regarded. I have also to beg of you as soon as you have [undecipherable] to [undecipherable] M. Guyer N. 136 north Street & endeavor to complete the purchase of his lots for me. I am with great respect Sam.
