Yours of the 12th Inst is duly received, and your account current with the United States since which I have had all your accounts examined and Stated in which you are [undecipherable] for your Salary to the first inst and after deducting for [undecipherable] Errors discovered on the Examination thereof — there appears a Balance in your favor of six hundred forty eight Dollars and [undecipherable] Cents which is this day [undecipherable] to W[m] Lyman Esq agreeably to your Order by him produced —
A Copy of Account of Errors you will receive, inclosed — by which you will see the differences between the Balance [undecipherable] by you and the [undecipherable] allowed —

You having received the sum of Three thousand two hundred and fifty five Dollars & [undecipherable] being for the pay — Subsistence and forage of the Corps of Artillerists and Eng[ineers?] You are to proceed therewith to West Point and deliver the same to Lieut Nehemiah [undecipherable: Freeman?] Pay Master of the Corps taking Duplicate Receipts therefor to be accountable to this Office for the due application thereof — In case he should be absent from [West] Point you will then pay the amount to Cap[t] Dan[iel?] Britt[?] [undecipherable] therefore who will [pay] the Corps. Your known care and [undecipherable] makes it unnecessary for me to add any thing on that head — wishing you a pleasant Journey
