Martin Fort de Boeuf — Department of War Accountants Office, May 14. 1796 Sir Agreeably to what I wrote you the [undecipherable] Your accounts have been under examination and the Balance due the United States is 3^22/100 D^r which differs from your [undecipherable] to [undecipherable] D^r and which is accounted for in manner stated in the enclosed Extract. The Bounty due to the recruits under your Command may be paid provided you are certain of the Money being due to those Men enlisted by Cap^t Price, Slough, and Lewis — Those Officers have not settled their Recruiting accounts, and consequently I have no documents to show they are entitled — I observe by the Statement of Bounty that William Convese is included, who appears to be [undecipherable: probable reading "discharged"] by Col^e Butler — he in my opinion is not entitled Henry Miller Esq^r Rep^t of Penn^a will remit you the sum of One hundred Dollars agreeably to your Statement which sum you will receipt to him to be accountable — for the due application thereof I am &c William Simmons
