Sir
Your favour dated the 29 April came duly to hand this Morning and is now before me, agreeable to your instructions I waited immediately on receipt of yours, upon Mr. Pennock— who said that he should not give me any receipt. that there was one allready sufficiently given by Mr. Herbert— who was the proper person he had referd me to, that he did not think himself in duty bound so to do, and lastly that he could not make himself responsible for the articles I have allready obtaind a receipt for from Mr. Herbert. —— This Sir was his reply to me this day and as such I thought myself in duty bound to give you the necessary information — If the receipt allready handed to the War Office should not be acepted quite, thank you to inform me who is the Person I am to apply to— When all is finished satisfactory be so obliging as to receive my hay and transmit it as soon as you can.
