Your favour dated the 29 April came duly to hand this morning and is now before me, agreeable to your instructions I waited immediately on receipt of yours, when Mr. Tennock — who said that he should not give me any receipt. That there was one allready sufficiently given by Mr. Herbert who was the proper person he had refer'd me to, that he did not think himself in duty bound so to do, and lastly that he could not make himself responsible for the articles I have allready obtain'd a receipt for from Mr. Herbert. — This Sir was his reply to me this day and as such I thought myself in duty bound to give you the necessary information — If the receipt allready handed to the War Office should not be accted [undecipherable]. Thank you to inform me who is the Person I am to apply to — When all is finished satisfactory be so obliging as to receive my pay and transmit it as soon as you can — I am Sir Your Mst. Obt. Servt.
