He carries with him all your [undecipherable] Clothing and such Stores as are deemed Necessary to your Post in a time of profound Peace — I think it is probable that we shall take pos session at the Chickasaw Bluffs before long in which Case your present Post will be [undecipherable: broke?] up the [undecipherable: force?] increased & the Command given to a Field Officer. The Treaty with Spain [undecipherable] & you will shortly see a Commission [undecipherable] on its way to Natchez to [undecipherable] in Establish ing our National Boundary on the Mississippi [undecipherable]. The story about the South[ern] [undecipherable] Ambassador to Kentucky is ridiculous and that respecting Sebastian a Calumny He has left the State because of a quarelle with the Legi slature in which it had been proposed to dismiss him from Office and as I am informed is looking out for a Settlement among the Spaniards. With respect to the deserters brought up by Lieu^t Gregg I am at a loss what to advise particularly as Gen^l Wayne informs me he has given you Orders for your Government — I however think M^r Gregg's Stipulations should be observed & that [he] should be set at Liberty You say nothing of Lieu^t Gregg's Mis sion to the Spaniards pray what is the result or are you forbid Communicating with me on that Subject.
