West Point, April 16^th 1796 Sir I have received your letter of the 9^th instant, and Captain Staats Morris has in consequence gone to New York with my receipt for two thousand, nine hundred, and five dollars, eighty seven cents, the sum, which you inform me, you have transmitted through the hands of Nicholas Fish, Supervisor at New York. The amount of subsistence stated to be due by an abstract inclosed to you at the same time as the last muster and pay roll, you will observe is not included in the above mentioned sum. Anticipating its transmission I have paid to Lieutenant Hale his subsistence for February. I now inclose you the muster and and pay roll for the month of March 1796 of the Corps at this garrison, accompanied by an abstract of retained rations due for that month to certain Commissioned officers.
