West Point, April 15. 1796 Sir, Your letter of the 18^th ultimo I have received, with the six boxes of medicines for the artillerists & engineers. I have delivered part of them to the orders of Col^t Rochefontaine; the remainder I expect he will give orders for in a few days — on his giving me a receipt for them I will forward it to you. I enclose you a return of the round shot at this post. I cannot yet send you the weight of the slow match. I have been obliged to get Cap^t Williams again to assist me in examining & taking an account of military stores. I was in hopes I would have been able to have made a finish with the little assistance Fred^k could afford me — but found it impossible. My last letter was dated the 26 ultimo. I have removed the good powder from fort Putnam magazine to the magazine in fort Clinton, as I thought it not prudent to let it remain there any longer. The new magazine in fort Putnam will not, I think, after all, answer to keep powder in, in less time than 8 or ten months!
