Norwich Aug^t 17 1795 Sir Agreeable to your request at my return from Middletown I made application for the gun Lock. and Barrels that I mentioned to you I found the Barrels would not answer and that there was not but about half a dozen Locks without I did not think it worth your trouble to come or mine to write I have since found twenty or thirty strong sound Musket Barrels that were Continental in possession of a man who was Commissary he will part with them but with all the arte I am master of I have not been able to make him affix a price he however will do this if you should come take two or three persons and let them apprize them that he may account for them if ever called upon which he does not expect will be the case He says also there is at the distance of 7or8 miles from here two or three car loads of guns complete except some few may [undecipherable] squandered, it is probable he will dispose of [a?] part or all of them I have stated the things and whether or not it will be worth your trouble to come down I leave for your good judgment to determine I would thank you to give my love to all my friends and tell them I am well from your most Obed^t Hum.
