Sir Having received no answer from the Secretary of War to my letter of the 24^th of March last, including my thanks & resignation of my Temporary Employment of Engineer, which my bad Health & Business prevented me from carrying on any further, I have the honor to forward you [undecipherable: my] account of the Month of March [undecipherable: for your] examination. Tho' my resignation has been Sent — before the End of that Month, I however thought myself [undecipherable: en]titled to receive my pay for the full [undecipherable: month]. The Engineers who left this Service [undecipherable: so]me time ago having been favoured with [undecipherable: their] pay long after their — resignation, [undecipherable: it app]ears to me that the Same Justice Should [undecipherable: be gr]anted to him who has Served [undecipherable] longer than them.
