Document 1796Deserter from Ohio company still missing, all [spies] in county discharged per order of Secretary of War. Vouchers to be forwarded soon.
Ebenezer Sproat Received 18 April 1796 Ans Same - Marietta 25 William Simmons Esquire Accountant War Dpartt Philadelphia Recd 15 Apr 96 Marietta 27th March 1796 Dear Sir I have not been able to collect all the vouchers to send forward yet one of the Directors of the Ohio Company is been gone the whole winter & not yet returned I expect soon to have it my power to send forward all the receipts necessary to exonerate me from all the Charges against me at the War Office. You did not acknowledge the receipt of the letter I writ you from Pitsburgh inclosing Major Craiggs receipts for the money I [took?] to him. – I have discharged all the spies in this County by an order from the Secy at War The rolls & power of all I will forward By the next post.
