Hodgdon Esquire Keeper of Military Stores by M^r Wm Clark of Philadelphia] New London March 25^th 1796 William Clark has obtained leave of absence to Visit your City, by whom I send this Letter. Enclosed you will find two Returns of Articles wanting here, One is a duplicate of a Return I forwarded to you sometime ago the other just made out, Mr Clark has promised to call on a Tile Cutter near to Fredericksburg and engage him if possible to come and re-set our old Tile, of the success of which he is directed to inform you the Tiles wanting in the Returns need not be sent otherwise please send them with the other Articles as soon as possible, M^r Clark will take Charge of them if they are sent by Water to Richmond — He will furnish you an order for his Pay for January February and March Amounting (after Credits) to Ninety six dollars 28 Cents which please pay to him, you will please observe I have taken no notice of any money which may have been paid to his Daughter this you can deduct if any has been paid I have the honor to be Sir Respectfully Your Obedient Servant Jn^o S.
