for War Office March 1^st 1796 Understanding that one of the Boats for the Frigate at Baltimore has been finished, and deeming it necessary that the Dimensions of all the Boats should be registered in this Office — You are therefore requested to get the particular Dimensions from the Master Boatbuilder of that and any other Boat, he may be Building for that Frigate, which you will please to transmit to this Office I also request your opinion what number of Boats are necessary for each of the Frigates, with their Lengths depths, and Breadths for War Office March 15 1796. Your letter with the Draught have been received — as the Copper bolts have been reduced to 1 1/8 Inch diameter you are hereby directed to secure the Kneel timbers with two of the 1 1/8 bolts in each Kneeltimber one of which must be drove through the lower Keelson, and the other through the upper Keelson both bolts are to go through the deadwood and Keel — The Drift Chocks are to be bolted with one bolt in each of 1 1/8 diameter which is to be drove through the lower Keelson, one of the lower futtock bolts and Keel all the bolts are to be well clenched on any let up into the Keel — The Drift Chocks may not be bolted farther forward than timber I not farther aft than timber 27
