William Simmons Esquire Fort Johnson Accountant General March 18^th 1796 Sir Had the pleasure of receiving your favor of the [undecipherable] last covering a receipt Roll for the troops under my command for the months of September October November and December last, Amounting to seven hundred an. sixteen Dollars fifty three cents, which sum I have received from M^r Daniel Burns, and now inclose you the said receipt Roll with the receipts thereon for the amount, together with Eleanor Donnans separate receipt, for William Donnan her deceased Brothers Pay, for June, July, and August, and her receipt on the pay Roll for the Sum due him till his Death, Accompanied with Ensign [undecipherable: Tomans] Affidavit who was present a little before his Death, all which I hope will be found wright and agreeable to you— I have also inclosed you the Muster Roll and Pay Roll for the troops under my Command at this Post for the Months of of January and February last— I beg leave to mention that Patrick Heyns being with Major Frieman on extra service could not be Mustered here, consequently, there Pay due him from the 1^st of May 1795, as will appear from former receipt Rolls, no money having been transmitted to me for the above purpose— Permit me to return you my sincere thanks for the trouble you have been so obliging as to take, to procure the money due me, by Lieut. William Cox— I beg leave to render you or any friend of yours every service in my power, and request if there is any thing here that can be procured that you wish for— you will oblige me by letting me know, & I shall with pleasure send it to you— I remain Sir With esteem your most ob^t Hbl^e Serv^t.
