Sir
I have received your letter of Jany 09th by Charles Anderson, who accompanied the six Indians whom you requested me to forward safely to Knoxville. I had no Sergeant in a condition to go on with them but have procured a young man and furnished him with money for that purpose
The Indians being very unwilling to proceed on foot from this place, and seeing they had more baggage then they could possibly carry with, I thought it prudent to furnish them with a pack Horse to assist them, as one of them had been sick for several days
I hird from Charles Anderson two Hundred & thirty Dollars for which I gave him my receipt, making my self accountable
I have the honor to be, your Obt Humbl Servt
