[Note: these circular letters were not transcribed &] [Circular to the Master Constructor of the 44 Gun Frigates the same with the difference of from timber 24 in the Fore body to timber 32 in the Afterbody to the Constructor of the 36 Gun Frigates] War Office February 12. 1796— Sir It being determined to secure the lower futtocks to the floor timbers with Copper bolts instead of Iron, as directed by a former order, and that the lower bolts on each of the Middle futtocks should also be of Copper — You will therefore act accordingly — The futtocks already framed and bolted [being removed] — The Copper bolts are to be the nearest in size to those ordered of Iron, and are to be applied from Timber 34 in the fore body to timber 34 in the Afterbody inclusively — [Circular to Master Constructor of the 44 Gun Frigates Note these letters were sent instead of the above the same letter with the alteration of timber N^o 33 — to 30 34 28 to 28 — and are sent to each of the Constructor for Frigates of 36 Gun] War Office February 13. 1796 Sir It being determined to secure the lower futtocks to the floor timbers with Copper bolts instead of Iron, in those parts of the Ship that are most likely to be covered by the wash of the bilge Water, and that the lower bolts in the [undecipherable] futtocks are to be of Copper for the same reason — The Copper bolts on the Stock of the lower futtocks are to be applied from timber 46 in the Forebody to Timber 34 in the Afterbody, The bolts to & from N^o 30 The upper one in the Floor head from N^o 23 and the bolt in the middle futtock heels from N^o to 28 alto the bolts in the framers is as of Iron as before directed — The Copper bolts are to be the nearest in size to those ordered of Iron.
