[Endorsement on cover: Capt Harrison / 13 July 1796 / [undecipherable] —] [Archival stamp] [Received from State Dep't / Nov. 23, 1893 / 4.P.C.401810.] Fort Johnson 13^th July 1796 Sir Enclosed I send you the Cloathing and Ordnance Store returns, commencing the 22. of Sept^r 1795. to the 10^th of January 1796 inclusive, from which you will be able to Judge, what I have on hand, and what is immediately wanting — Hats, Coats, Vests, and Linnen Overalls &c are much wanted, they being due to some Old Soldiers, as well as some new recruits lately inlisted. Governor Vanderhorst has not been in Charleston as I [undecipherable] see him since my return here from Philadelphia; therefore could not shew him the order for two Drag field pieces, and Military Arms, as Your letter Specifies, consequently I still remain in want of them. I have received two hundred weight of powder from this State, by virtue of an Order from General Pinckney, on the Arsenal Store Keeper here, which will appear, when I shall transmit my return of Ordnance & ammunition for this Month. As soon as I can have an opportunity of seeing the Governor, will present him Your Order, and acquaint You, whether he complies with it or not.
