Inclosed is a Return of all the Cloathing received by me since my appointment and all the Issues to the 1st of January — Some Issue of Cloathing have been made at Fort Washington from a quantity deposited there for the convenience of the supplying the Posts on the River & the Post of Vincennes the Vouchers for these deliveries have not yet come to my hands, these deliveries have been made by the Quarter Master [undecipherable], Shall account for these in my next Returns, the mode of date however will be changed & cannot be avoided in transacting the business from the Commissary of these Posts unless I have an [undecipherable] —
The Levy Cloathing which has been on hand Several years is Still at Fort Washington — the quantity is small & of little Value as will appear by the Return also inclosed — The Secretary of War in his letter to me of the 14th march last intimated, that issues might probably be given for Cloathing of it among the Inhabitants — having not yet received any instructions for that purpose — the Linnen Overalls are good — but not of a quality equal to that provided for the troops —
