Wilkinson from No. [undecipherable]] Fort Washington 1^st July 1799 Sir I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 26^th ult. and to transmit two letters which came to hand last Evening — Also Nine letters & Eight packages of News papers — Together with two War Office letters & Three packages of Newspapers for General Wayne, which arrived this afternoon by Mail — I have also forwarded a monthly return of this Garrison for January last — It gave me pleasure to hear that your family had reached Greenville in health & Spirits; and, without any material Accident, I hope before this gets to hand M^rs Wilkinson will have perfectly [undecipherable] the in=disposition, Contracted by the dampness of her Apartments, I Shall pay attention to the papers to be perused by Cap^t Harrison & duly forward them to Head Quarters — I beg leave to inform you that I wrote Cap^t Shaumburgh, your Aid De Camp, on the 28 ult. and enclosed under cover to him, an account of the Clothing, received by the men at present belonging to [undecipherable] doing, duty at this Garrison, while under my Comm[and] — I also enclosed a Memo. of Clothing received by them previous to their Joining the Garrison, [which] Memo. is taken from returns of the 1^st & 4^th Sub Legions, transmitted to me and Verbal information of the 2^nd & 3^rd from which no returns or description Lists have been furnished, I beg leave further to Observe Sir, that by a report from the Quarter Master, the Clothing Wanting for the men of this Garrison, as also for the recruits expected from Lexington can be furnished at this post; Except Coats — I am happy to inform you that I am much better in health than I have experianced for several Months — Though the pain in my feet Still continues, so as to prevent me from leaving, my Chamber I however hope to be again on my feet in two or three days — With my best Respects to M^rs Wilkinson I have the Honour To be very respectfully your Obed^t Serv^t, In^d Peirce Cap^tn Com^d [signature] [Hon^ble Brig^d Gen^l James Wilkinson]
