Request for Prices of Clothing, Arms and Accoutrements
Document 1796Lieutenant Freeman requests the prices of articles of clothing, arms and accoutrement in order to make pay stoppages of deserters. Asks for a list of prices to be sent to Freeman at West Point.

War Office January 29 1796 Sir, Lieutenant Freeman Paymaster of [?} Corps of Artillerists and Engineers stationed at West Point has requested the prices of the several articles of clothing arms and accoutrements delivered to the Soldiers in order that he may make stoppages from the pay of several deserters and others who have lost or destroyed any of them__the Prices of yClothing I can furnish I from the Contract_but I can find no papers in the Office to enable me to fix the prices of yc different articles of which the Arms and Accoutrements consist. I will thank you if you would direct a list of the prices to be made out and sent to me as early as may be as the post will tomorrow set out for West Point. With great respect I am Your obed. Servt.
