Sir 5 Henry Glen Esq^r. a Member of Congress has exhibited to this Office an account wherein he makes a charge against the United States for the Storing a quantity of Military Stores in his Store in the Town of Schenectady from the 1^st of June 1794 to the 31^st of December 1795. I find on examination that he has had an allowance of this kind up to the 1^st of June 1794 — founded on a letter from you to the late Secretary of War dated 6^th June 1794. I therefore wish you to inform me Whether the Stores mentioned in your letter are Still in his possession, and if any agreement has been made with him for Storing Said Articles.- I am Sir &c. Sir Your account have been Settled in this Office, and there appears to be a balance in your favor of $6 Dolls 22/100 which has been passed to the Credit of Cap^t. [undecipherable: Halltsen] he having advanced to you the sum of 100 Dollars for the Recruiting Service and on the Settlement of Cap^t. [undecipherable: Halltsen]'s accounts he produces your account for recruiting amounting to 63 Dollars which was passed to his credit, leaving a balance of 37 doll. due to him. I have therefore admitted the balance appearing due you to the Credit of Cap^t. [undecipherable: Halltsen] to refund him so much more of the sum he advanced you. I therefore enclose you duplicates of your accounts by which you can see that your accounts Stands closed on the books
