I am informed that you do not grant the Extra pay to Lieut.^t McAllen to Freeman - one is adj.^t of the 2^d [undecipherable] & the other of the 3^d (both appointed by me in [undecipherable]) will you inform me of your reasons for so doing? enclosed I send you a receipt of Cap.^t Wadsworth for D.^rs 23. 13. too, also the Duplicate of the receipt of Major Fanning for D.^rs [undecipherable]00. I have written to the Sec.^t of War this day, to obtain a discharge for [strikethrough: Daniel Moran] & Daniel W. Downey - I wish you would call when you have occasion to step up stairs, for that paper, which will rid us of a useless burden, & the U.S. with an unnecessary expence. also a decision of the Sec.^t of War respecting George Eaton - discharged, but being blind and unable to help himself, he must be kept here on public expence, untill the Sec.^t orders what he wishes to do with him - as soon as I am able to see into my baggage, which are hipped in a part of one of my Major's quarters, for want of one for myself, I will take care to return to the Stores all the articles of the memorandum that are with me - I am with great Esteem Sir, M.^r Simmons your ob.^t Serv.^t Step.
