Preventing Improper Applications
Document 1797In order to prevent the improper application for stores, Rochefontaine recommends that commanding officers of detachments be required to submit estimates of their needs for clothing for five months hence. In January applications should be made for the summer months and in June or July another application made for their winter supplies.

Kalteiren with the Duplicate of the Due Bill given for the balance of the said Clothing, I find the return was for <thirty nine pair of Socks, & that this Due Bill owing to the pairs being written in two lines, was by mistake for nine pairs only, as stated by Lieut Robeson in his letter of the 4th Inst. - I have reason also to believe that the Sergeants Clothing intended for that detachment & forwarded to Capt.
